Bacteria Testing

Bacteria are found everywhere and some can cause serious diseases. Most types of bacteria are completely harmless to humans, or even beneficial! Those that reside in the human body help us digest food and fight off certain diseases. A number of bacteria have been used in the production of fuel, food, and drugs. Bacteria together with other microorganisms breakdown organic materials thus helping in the recycling of nutrients.

Bacteria testing is recommended to indicate the presence of organisms that can cause deadly diseases. Usually disease causing bacteria originate from human and animal wastes. These bacteria such as E-coli and Coliforms could contaminate all of the building surfaces contacted during the water loss or sewage back-up.

Since virtually every sample has some form of bacteria, it is important to have a clear objective for bacteria testing. Also, some samples are not suitable for bacteria testing or for some categories of bacteria.

To ensure the lab has in stock all the reagents required for a particular bacteria test, please call before sampling to let the lab know the type of analysis required, the turnaround time and the number of samples.
